Fillings

This commonly performed tooth restoration is used to both remove harmful decay and replace damaged tooth structure. Once you know that, the name “filling” itself is actually pretty intuitive; dentists use material to “fill” a hole in your tooth, which is known as a cavity, or to replace fractured tooth structure.
This material can take many forms, and at The Levy Dental Group, we offer many options for fillings. These include composite and porcelain (tooth colored), which are the most common options, as well as amalgam (silver) and gold restorations.

The process by which tooth colored fillings are applied to teeth is known as bonding. Fillings are fairly routine procedures as an estimated 78% of Americans have suffered at least one cavity by age 17. While you never look forward to a cavity or a filling, there is some good news: Using our advanced technologies and pain-free techniques you can comfortably have a filling.  If the dental decay or fracture is caught and managed early, we can help you avoid  a root canal treatment and crown or extraction.
